Speech Therapy for Kids in Las Vegas
Our Approach to Pediatric Speech & Feeding Therapy
At Speech in the Valley, therapy is guided by a neurodiversity-affirming approach that centers your child’s strengths and interests. Sensory-based strategies are used to help your child feel regulated and ready to learn.
Whether your child is a late talker, uses an AAC device, or is a picky eater, sessions are play-based and engaging. Children are encouraged to learn in ways that feel natural, while still making meaningful progress.
Parent coaching and home practice are included to support continued growth outside the therapy room.
Pediatric Speech & Feeding Evaluations
At Speech in the Valley, evaluations are collaborative and supportive sessions designed to help us truly get to know your child and family. During the evaluation, we will:
Observe your child through play and activities to understand real-life communication and feeding skills
Talk with you about your child’s history, daily routines, and goals
Use standardized or dynamic assessments based on your child’s needs and attention
After the evaluation, we review the results together and use them to guide thoughtful, individualized treatment planning.
We Also Work With Adults!
Speech in the Valley works with adults seeking speech therapy post-stroke or TBI. Our adult speech therapy services focus on communication, AAC, and cognitive skills.
Speech Therapy for Late Talkers & Language Delays & Disorders
Language therapy supports children in understanding language and expressing their needs and wants with confidence. Sessions are tailored to your child’s age, skills, and individual strengths.
During language therapy, we will:
Support understanding of language through play and everyday activities
Help your child express thoughts, needs, and ideas more clearly
Build vocabulary, sentence use, and comprehension at your child’s level
Work closely with caregivers to support carryover at home
Language therapy helps reduce frustration and supports confident communication in daily life.
Speech Therapy for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) provides children who are minimally-speaking or non-speaking with reliable ways to communicate. Support may include low-, mid-, or high-tech communication options based on your child’s needs.
AAC therapy focuses on helping children:
Use communication systems during daily routines
Learn and use functional words right away
Build from single words to short, meaningful phrases
Communicate needs and wants across environments
Develop communication skills for social interaction
Parent coaching is included to support AAC use at home. Device selection and funding support are also provided as part of the process.
Speech Therapy for Gestalt Language Processing (Echolalia)
Some children communicate by repeating phrases they have heard, also known as echolalia. For example, a child may repeat a question instead of answering it directly. This is a valid way of communicating and part of how some children learn language.
Therapy for gestalt language processing focuses on supporting children as they move toward self-generated language. Sessions may include:
Identifying the phrases your child uses and when they use them
Supporting language development in a structured, step-by-step way
Using play and meaningful interactions to support progress
Collaborating with families and other providers
This approach helps children build communication skills that support confidence and meaningful connections.
Feeding Therapy for Picky Eaters & Sensory Aversions
Taking a sensory-based approach, we work with “picky eaters” to help them build confidence and willingness to try new foods. We take care to ensure your child is comfortable and feels safe to participate while providing coaching and strategies for mealtimes at home. During feeding therapy, we will:
Use sensory-based strategies to address underlying feeding challenges
Support oral motor skills related to eating
Observe and discuss mealtime routines and concerns
Provide guidance and coaching to support carryover at home
Feeding therapy helps reduce mealtime stress and supports positive progress with eating.
Bringing Therapy to Your Child
at Their ABA Center
At Speech in the Valley, we understand how full your days can be, especially when your child attends an ABA center regularly. That’s why we bring speech therapy directly to your child at their ABA center, removing the need for extra travel and transitions.
We also know that the therapists and staff working with your child every day play a big role in supporting communication. Because of that, we take time to collaborate closely with the team and provide training so strategies are consistent and meaningful across sessions.
When providing services within an ABA center, we use a neurodiversity-affirming approach that may include:
Thoughtful treatment planning and goal writing
Direct, one-on-one training with RBTs
Collaborative co-treatment with the ABA team
Supporting AAC use with both staff and your child
Working toward self-generated language for Gestalt Language Processors
By meeting your child where they already are, therapy becomes part of their daily routine. Families receive progress updates and session notes, so you stay informed, involved, and supported throughout the process.
